Yumi Okita’s Butterflies and Botanicals Metamorphose from Colourful Thread

From vibrant thread and wire, Yumi Okita conjures thrillingly lifelike moths, butterflies, and flowers. The Raleigh-based artist (beforehand) meticulously embroiders bugs’ colourful wings with a watch for realism, so till you’re up shut, they seem as if they may flutter away at any second. And in her more moderen collection of otherworldly botanicals, petals, leaves, and roots curl to look as if they have been simply plucked from their habitats.
Okita usually provides authentic sculptures to her Etsy store, and it’s also possible to observe updates on Instagram.
